Guys And Tools

The first question that springs to mind is: what is that bear doing in town, window-shopping? Shouldn't he be up at the North Pole, drinking Coca Cola with the penguins and the other bears? Is he with the guys? Are they even aware that there is an enormous bear behind them?

In any case, none of these three should be getting anywhere near tools of any kind.

The boy is eyeing that drill with an excess of glee that is most disturbing. The guy on the right wouldn't know what to do with a drill (or any other tool) if he tripped over it. And from the look of him, that's just a matter of time.

Finally, there's the large, strange, gleeful polar bear. He's definitely about to go in to Miller's Tools with them. He's looking pretty happy about the drill. And about the guys. Either he's got a little home-improvement project up in the Arctic or he's thinking about dinner.

I don't like any of it one bit.

It's kind of scary when the bear is the most normal-looking one of the bunch....

Tori - Ain't that the truth!

I am not sure why men like tools... my husband was eyeballing a set of tools at Wal Mart the other day and he hates fixing things around the house.

It must be the ad campaigns that have brain washed them!

hahaha! when I saw the ad all I could think was...give the guy a tool? more like that man IS a tool! There's a freakin' bear behind you, RUN! ;)

Why is there an accent mark over the e in give? Is it pronounced "givay"?

I don't like the looks of this situation, either. You just know that someone is going to have a hole drilled in his head or a face sanded off before it's all said & done.

Do you think that the bear is an ursine version of Harvey? I can easily believe that these two lunatics would share an imaginary friend.

Michelle - I read once in the paper that men like to go look around at Home Depot the way women like to browse around the drugstore, which is true to some extent (I don't mind Home Depot up to a point, though).

Chat Blanc - LOL, I kept thinking that too! Yeah, I don't think they've registered that there's a bear back there.

Anonymous - You're right, but i think it was an unintentional accent mark...I don't know why it is there!

Bill - Yes, I had forgotten about Harvey! This must be the bear version, as you say. Maybe he and Harvey are friends. I can't imagine Elwood P. Dowd with a drill, really. Harvey is such a terrific movie BTW, one of my favorites.

Usually the ads and your commentary are funny. For some reason, today's is among the best ever. I truly lol'd.
I have a huge tool collection, and am so unhandy, it's criminal. Buying, owning, and coveting tools is in male DNA.

Umm, bears and tools? Not sure of what the connection is either. This was funny though. I agree that the man in the ad looks more like a tool than a real tool user. And, I thought at first that the other person was a woman. That sure is a pretty little boy!

I hope caribou barbie doesn't see this ad; I'm sure she'd make them choose a shotgun instead of a drill.

Happy Holidays Lidian, Thanks for the Drops Everyday on All My Blogs. You are a Real 'Drop Star'

Cheers,

The bear is so odd, just standing behind them! And the drill appears to be staring directly at the boy. Creepy.

Oh dear, I do not like the look on that bear's face! I don't think he's excited about the tools, I think he's excited about dinner!

Are you sure the bear is not from Miller's beer? Any man with that look on hs face must have ahd a few.

Da Old Man - Thank you, that is a true compliment coming from you :)

AngieSS - Yes, he certainly is!

RE Ausketkmt - Thank you, and the same to you! :)

Frogs in my Formula - Yes, it really stood out, and made me laugh - which are the two things that I'm looking for.

Maria - You're right, that bear's been lacing the Coca Cola with something, or having a few beers!

That bear looks a little Satanic if you ask me - its eyes are a little bit high on the South Park Woodland Critter Christmas scale of demented

Retro Man - I am worried about that bear too...
