May Your Days Be Mamie and Ike

...And may all your Electronic Snowmen be capable of doing Compressed Air Tricks.

Look, so maybe it was a social coup to get a Christmas card from Ike and Mamie. During the Eisenhower era, and all that. OK, OK - I said maybe! But I really don't think that this was going to fool anybody. Even if you stuck right it on the tree. Especially if you stuck it right on the tree. I mean, talk about being obvious. Why not stick all twelve of them on the tree, while you're at it.

If you aim that groovy revolving light at them, people will definitely notice.

Or maybe you'd rather concentrate on the electronic snowman. Now he's an all-around entertainer. He shakes his broom, his head, flashes his eyes. He's got some compressed air in his hat as well, which makes the snowball float over him.

Just give me some supersonic eggnog and I can do all that as well. Except the snowball trick. Unless you've had some of that eggnog, too.

My family had a silver plastic Christmas tree and one of the revolving color wheel lights to go with it. I used the light in a "disco" party once....
(That's a big hint about how cool I was in high school.)

My family had one of those lights, too. But, we had a tree that was silver and gold (little Burl Ives tribute maybe?)

You have been doing some really wonderful great posts lately, Lidian! This title is so great!! And I'm going to be throwing around the phrase "compressed air trick."

Dan - I used to go to high school dances where the theme was Saturday Night Fever. Well, I went to two. That's how cool I was. Not.

Da Old Man - You and Dan are making me wish we had had one of those revolving lights! We had the really bog colored lights (about the size of a nightlight light) on cords, they were great but we had to ditch them recently because they were an electrical fire watiing to happen. But I miss them anyway (minus of course the fire risk).

Needless To Say - Thank you! I was trying to think of a title as I was going to sleep last night and it took a very long time...I went through every Christmas song and phrase and movie title I could muster up.

Any snowman that starts flashing its eyes at me is liable to get blasted by a heatlamp.

My boss gave me an old wobbly color wheel he had and I set it up at work. I left it running when I was out on my lunch hour and when I returned the plastic was adhered to the million-watt bulb and was melting before my eyes. If I had gotten there five minutes later, the sprinklers would have gone off.

OMG I just had a flashback to college. My friend had a revolving color light and we used to sit in front of it for hours...smoking, um, marshmallows.

Where can one buy this supersonic eggnog you speak of and does it go well with condemned gingerbread houses??

Tori - I don't want anyone or anything flashing their eyes at me these days! :)

Melissa - Thank you!

Gunnar and Sherry - Wow, that was a close call!

Frogs in my formula - Well, the eggnog probably explains the state of the house! I think you have to mix it in the still out on the back porch.

Humor Blogs has totally shut down my voting based on IP. I got one vote today and got banned.

I wonder if that card was available in Mamie Pink?

That snowman probably worked for about three days before he conked out.

LOBO - I really wish that HB had a forum so we could all keep up with what's going on...I hope you get reinstated soon, not just because of the IOU.

Bill- That would look lovely on the tree! I wanted to make a joke about how the snowman looked a bit like Ike, but my brain stopped short of that.

Just to be clear, if someone like, say, Antonio Banderas, felt compelled to flash their eyes at me it would be a different story. But not Frosty, thanks all the same.

Tori - Well yes, it would depend on who was flashing their, um, eyes! :)
