An Exception to the Slide Rule

"Any male will go mad over this." That's quite a claim! Maybe they mean that trying to measure things with it, while it is stuck on your tie, will drive any male mad. Yeah, that must be it.

They could be right. I'd be pretty mad if someone gave me one of these.

I remember having these, but bigger ones at school before the calculator was invented.. showing my age here..

Hmm I might have to blog about my experiences with one someday! lol

Okay, I'm just math geeky enough that, if I were a guy, I would love this...heck, I get my math geek from my dad and, had this been available to me, I would have probably bought one for him.

Maybe I'll look for one on-line. Bet I could find it!

How funny. We have slide rules by the gross at work, a very easy to get item. I cannot imagine needing one as a tie clasp.

I like how the first sentence is "It really works!" You can just hear the "no, really! we swear! trust us!"

I think it's cute!

You do realize that slide rules don't measure anything, right? They're a form of calculator.

Forget the men going mad for this. I'd go mad for it! I've been wishing lately I could get my hands on a slide rule, just for nostalgia's sake, and I'd love to have one of these too.

OK, I actually think this is really cool and, if it were available today, I can think of 30-40 recipients (especially if that were the price!)

Of course, I work for NASA.

Bill - I would be confused, not mad, because I don't know how to use a slide rule. And I don't wear ties.

LadyBanana - Absolutely you should blog about it! I want to hear!

Jenni - It would be cute for a math or science guy, I agree - what I loved was the excited assumption that EVERY guy would love it...

ettarose - Well, but you never know! :)

Frogs in my Formula - Oh, I know - like it's some kind of complex machanism. Land o' goshen, folks, it's only a tie clip!

Jen - I don't know a thing about them, so I didn't know that, thanks! :)

Phyl - I think we used to have a slide rule around here but you are right, you don't see them much these days (I don't anyway, maybe I am not looking in the right places!)

Stephanie - It would be ideal for gifts at NASA! :)

I actually think that's pretty cool. I know a few guys who would go mad to have one now that slide rules are all passe-retro.

Peter - Yes, Ettarose, I would like to know too! :)

Amy - That is so cool! And did it really work?

Da Old Man - Well, you never know, they might still make them...

Prana - Thanks!

Carol - Actually, I know some guys who might like them too! :)
