Can't Buy A Thrill

"Luster-Foam creates a dainty, stimulating bubble bath which cleans teeth thrilling new ways...Don't be a back number. Wake up your mouth..."

Listen, if you get so excited brushing your teeth that you get it all over your face - you really need to get out a little more. Maybe take up a new hobby. Dare I say, get a life?

Oh, I do. I do dare.

Because Luster-Foam Lady? You are scaring me a little...

From that wild and crazy magazine, Ladies' Home Journal (1939).

Holy crap, lookit that lady's face! I think it's frozen that way... for all time. I'm frightened.

That is REALLY creepy!

It's a failed screen test shot by a forgotten actress for the movie Psycho.

What a bizarre ad!!!

Heather - Yeah, she may never get over this.

Tori - There are some very stange ads in those 1930s LHJs...

Bill - Yes, it's the happy sappy musical version, Tooth Or Dare.

Wait a minute! Evidently I've been doing it all wrong. I wash my face AFTER I brush my teeth because I have toothpaste EVERYWHERE...chin, corners of my mouth, down the front of my robe...probably a good thing I have never used Luster-Foam; I'd probably have to re-take my shower and do a load of laundry!

I really love your blog! I wanted you to know that I logged in to Entrecard to approve your Ad request, but every time I click approve it chugs and chugs and tells me it failed. I'll try later, but I just wanted you to know that I'm happy to advertise your blog on mine!!!

I think the Luster-Foam lady needs to visit her doctor and ask about some meds. She scares me! *shudder*

Yet more sarcastic criticism. I think I am beginning to see a pattern here. You are making FUN of these ads.

Can you imagine what our great grandchildren will be saying about our ads? "Hey look at those stupid people talking to a lizard!"

Judy - Yes, this is the revolutionary NEW way to rush your teeth!

Michelle - Thanks! And no worries, I know the EC ad thing is acting up lately...

Dr. Julie-Ann - For some reason the 30s ads are among the strangest I've ever seen.

Hairball - She really is a little too enthusiastic.

Max - Oh no, you found me out!

ettarose - I wonder who people in their ads will be talking to!
