Cottage Cheese Haiku

Cottage cheese in spring:
White as the clouds up above -
Curds in a blue dish.

Oh happy taste thrill -
The family gathers near
A giant plateful.

Is this the apex
Of their culinary life -
These little bland curds?

Perky little heads
Ecstatic over dinner
Wave spoons together

As if cottage cheese
Was some kind of rock legend
And playing their song.

If this is Purity Cottage Cheese, does eating it make you live a cleaner life?

JD at I Do Things said...

A great dip for chips
Lower fat than ranch dressing
Avoid the big curds

Tori - I think that there is some implied moral benefit, yes.

JD - That is a fabulous haiku, and so true as well! :)

These are great! Thanks Lidian. :)

Let me tell you...if, as a child, I had waved my spoon at cottage cheese, it would have been an attempt to ward it off. It was on my list of foods to avoid at all costs.

Trapped at the table
Other kids have indoor dogs

yum! I personally like cottage cheese with chives.

It's a literary masterpiece! If you're in the dairy industry, perhaps.

I can't help wondering who really gets ecstatic over cottage cheese, though.

Michele - Thanks, it was fun. I wasn't sure how to treat this ad, which I liked but - let's face it - isn't as wacky and fun as of some of the others.

Bill - An excellent haiku! And yes, there was no spoon waving allowed at my house either (really, I mean apartment, not house, but you know what I mean)

Amy - Cottage cheese with chives is wonderful - I remember having it at a restaurant with Melba toast, and it was really good. I haven't seen that combo in years though.

Carol - That was probably the single funny thing that made me scan the ad - the rather loopy notion that people were going to get worked up over a bowl of bland, white cottage cheese. All those happy little heads craving dairy products!

The disembodied heads and hands are most disturbing!

You are welcome to have my share of the cottage cheese, as I don't enjoy eating it.

Hairball - I might need to put pineapple in it first. I used to like the kind that had pineapple in it already, but they stopped making it. I agree that it is not a stand-alone delicacy!

Oh, I dunno. I actually rather like cottage cheese on its own with a little salt and pepper on it.

But still...I wouldn't go all ecstatic over it.

Cottage cheese looks an awful lot like rice pudding. The only explanation is that Canadians lied to the cartoon people in the ad. I've seen this before.

Phyl - Well, exactly.

P.L. - Hmmm...I will have to think about that! :)

Disembodied heads
Float joyfully around it
Why don't they have arms?

Lidian said...

Brandon - That is an excellent haiku and an excellent question! :)
