A Tasty Treet

When is a treat not a treat? When it is a Treet, of course. Thriftier, perhaps. Tastier? Hard to say. Actually, not hard to say. It looks absolutely awful. There, I said it.

On the left, the heading is "Some Like It Hot" and features Treet topped with apricots that look like eyes with tiny pupils (staring up at the kitchen light fixture will do that). Next to it are pieces of banana rolled in crushed corn flakes and baked into submission.

The right hand picture shows the Treet response to the phrase Some Like It Cold. Open face Treet sandwiches with horseradish! And watching from the sidelines: melon balls stuffed into avocado halves.

There is a Wikipedia entry on Treet but it is strangely (or maybe not so strangely) terse. It does mention that Treet baked with ketchup is called Treet Loaf. Aren't you glad you know that? Also, did you know that Treet is more popular than Spam but doesn't have the - how shall we put it - pop culture mystique of Spam. And P.S.: I have just located some more, even funnier Treet ads so yes, there will be seconds and thirds in the future. Yum!

Bigger version here, if you must.

Well it is made by 'armour' and, English spelling aside, the look of it appearing out of the can would provide more than enough 'personal protection' if one were to wield it in front of them.....

Yikes! The "treats" (never has a word begged more desperately for quotation marks!) do look vomit-inducing, alright. But the Treet itself - might be something my dog would love (I'm not so sure I'd love my dog to eat it, though)…
